MAGIC TRICKS
THE FOUR ACE TRICK
Effect: You magically find the four aces in a shuffled deck.
How it's done:
Step 1: Before starting the trick, secretly place the four aces on top of the deck.
Step 2: Shuffle the deck, but make sure the four aces stay on top (use a false shuffle).
Step 3: Tell the audience you will pull the four aces from different parts of the deck. Spread the deck and pretend to pull out aces from random locations.
Step 4: Since you already know the top four cards are aces, you can reveal them dramatically.
THE AMBITIOUS CARD
Effect: A chosen card keeps jumping to the top of the deck.
How it's done:
Step 1: Have the spectator choose a card and place it on top of the deck.
Step 2: Perform a simple double lift (lift the top two cards as one) to show a different card on top. This card is not their chosen one, but because of the double lift, they believe it is.
Step 3: Place the top card in the middle of the deck. In reality, this is a random card, and their actual chosen card is still on top.
Step 4: Reveal that their card is "magically" back on top of the deck.
AMUSING CARD TRICK
1 - Hold the deck as shown, having previously looked at the bottom card. Slip the cards backwards, requesting some one to tell you where to stop. Then slip the top card from the rest of the deck and announce "The card you told me to stop is the ace of diamonds," or whatever the bottom card might have been.
2 - Lay the deck on the table, face down, and announce that you will knock a card through the table. Secretly moisten the back of your hand under the table. If you are clever, the card will appear to have dropped through the table to the back of your hand, to which it adheres due to the previous moistening.
THIS TRICK WILL FOOL YOU
Here is an astonishing optical illusion. Take a safety pin and push the point carefully through the middle of a toothpick so that the toothpick can revolve on the pin. Close the safety pin; then turn the toothpick to the position shown in the drawing and press its lower end, being careful not to break it. Release the toothpick with a snap-and it will apparently pass completely through the safety pin! Of course it does not but the illusion is perfect.
PICK A CARD, ANY CARD
Effect: The spectator selects a card, and you are able to find it even after shuffling.
How it's done:
Step 1: Let the spectator choose a card, and as they look at it, secretly split the deck with your pinky finger (a "pinky break").
Step 2: After they return the card, cut the deck at your pinky break so their card is now at the top or bottom.
Step 3: Use a series of false cuts or shuffles, keeping their card in place.
Step 4: Dramatically reveal their card, making it seem like magic!
THE MIND READER
Effect: You tell the spectator that you'll read their mind and predict the card they’re thinking of.
How it's done:
Step 1: Shuffle the deck and ask the spectator to pick any card. As you spread the deck, secretly memorize the bottom card of the deck.
Step 2: Have them place their card back on top of the deck.
Step 3: Cut the deck, which puts your memorized card right on top of their chosen card.
Step 4: Go through the deck slowly, pretending to read their mind. Once you see your memorized card, you know their card is the next one.
