Our American Licorice Company crew, small yet fearless, was chilling in Chicago, IL, and thought, “Candy can be wilder than this!” They retooled the licorice process, ran a few tangy experiments, layered in some bold fruit flavors, and BAM! They crafted a candy that challenged the status quo. Sour Punch was born—loud, tangy, and ready to shake up snack time forever.

Okay, so we dropped these crazy sour, fruit-flavored straws in 1990—Sour Punch Straws! BOOM! Everyone went wild for those trays of zingy goodness. Snack time would never be the same, and guess what? We’re still cranking them out in La Porte, Indiana. Talk about a classic!

2004 rolled up like, “Hold my sour dust!” and changed the game. Sour Punch Bites hit first—tiny, tangy, dangerously snackable, these little flavor bombs changed the way we did punch—one bite at a time.

Why stop at bites when you can go LONG? In 2004, the Sour Punch Rope swung onto the scene with extra chew, extra stretch, and extra attitude. These sour-loaded ropes were made to be twisted, shared (if you’re feeling generous), and devoured one epic strand at a time.

We weren’t done yet. In 2004, Sour Punch Twists dropped—perfectly twisted, individually wrapped, and stacked with bold flavor. These twists of greatness quickly became the ultimate grab-and-go sour candy—easy to snag, hard to ignore, and even harder to put down.

We packed up our tangy chaos in Chicago and rolled it out to La Porte, Indiana, bringing all the tang, punch, and attitude with us. Bigger space, bolder production, and endless opportunities—now Sour Punch could punch even harder. Snack time leveled up, and tangy adventures were officially in session.

In 2005 we whipped up a giant candy straw that was as wild to munch as it was to sip through! The Sour Punch Sip N' Chew Straw turned every icy drink into a tangy, tongue-tingling adventure. Sweet, sour, and totally slurp-worthy, it made every sip a mini candy explosion!

In 2006, new logo, new look! We said goodbye to the old thick font inside a cloud bubble and amped things up! The new logo made 'PUNCH' the star, with a dynamic explosion behind it that shouted fun, energy, and pure candy chaos. BAM! The Sour Punch attitude was cranked to eleven!

Fast forward to 2010, and we sharpened things up! The new logo hit you with lightning bolt energy and edgy lines, turning up the punch factor to MAXIMUM. Style? BOLDER! SHARPER! You feel us?

Punchies! Soft, chewy, crunchy balls of awesome! Okay, they're gone now (sad face). But guess what? We're plotting their comeback. Maybe. Upper management? Production?... Someone make it happen!?

We got SHAPES! Narwhals? Hearts? Bats? Why not! We finally got the gear to mold our treats into awesome shapes. Turns out, playing with candy is super fun. And who knew half trees were a thing?

We did it AGAIN! This time, we took all our favorite bits and mashed them into the awesome logo and packaging you see today. It's like a flavor symphony for your eyes, right?

April Fools’ Day 2023 brought us Sour Punch Roulette—Pickle Roulette, to be exact, because normal candy is boring. The prank energy was real, but so was the flavor. One bite turned confusion into commitment, and now Roulette keeps spinning with more flavors and full-send sour chaos.

In 2024 we finally jumped on the gummy train with Sour Punch Gummies, and boy, did we do it right! Punchie faces and lightning bolts? Yup, we turned them into the most delicious gummies EVER!

Sour Punch Straws but Filled Straws! Look, filling straws is HARD! And we did it! Because flavor innovation is our middle name! Or something like that. Sour Punch Filled Straws first released in 2025.
